Can We say thank you so much for making our dream ring a reality! I can’t believe how amazing it is!
Our client for this 'Ring of the Week' project gave a design brief including a contemporary, strong yet simplistic signet ring. He was originally looking at having this bold, contemporary ring made out of platinum. This would have created a very dense, heavy ring, so we decided to produce it in palladium which retains strength and remains light and comfortable. As we used palladium; we were able to produce a solid quality ring without having to additionally hollow out the metal, as is the case with some signet rings. This is a classic designed signet ring, featuring a highly polished rectangular onyx inlay. We created and built the frame of the ring first and took it to our lapidary specialist in order to get the exact size that was required. Once this was cut and polished, a specific type of glue was used to set it in place, which is traditional practice with custom inlay, and the surface of the ring was polished to leave a seamless finish. There were two small diamonds that have been set on either side in what is called a 'gypsy' set or 'flush' set fashion. This enables them to sink ever so slightly into the surface on the metal so that they do not protrude and add additional design detailing.
