Known as the best diamond simulant, cubic zirconia are lab grown using elements of Zirconium dioxide, known as baddeleyite, which is a natural gemstone. Its main competition as a synthetic gemstone is the more recently cultivated material simulated moissanite. You can tell a diamond from a CZ from the see-through test- this means if you put a diamond and a CZ top down over some writing, with a diamond the dispersion is high which will make you unable to read anything. With a CZ you can generally read what is underneath.
