Can We say thank you so much for making our dream ring a reality! I can’t believe how amazing it is!
We created this weeks 'Ring of the Week' project as a 21st birthday present for a PHD Mathematical student. The Möbius band is a surface with only one side and only one boundary component. A model can be created using a strip of paper and giving it a half-twist, then join the ends of the strip together to form a loop. We originally based our ring upon a full Möbius design concept, however the width of the ring would have been too uncomfortable to wear. We consulted with our client and decided we would narrowed the ring down, leaving the top section to represent the Möbius. We also consulted with our client and further decided to taper the channel set rubies to give the illusion that this was a full Möbius and in order to retain a distinct form. We used palladium as the metal complements the striking set of red rubies, and allows for a practical daily wear due to its lightweight nature.
