Spring traditionally heralds the start of ‘wedding season’ and it’s easy to see why. Longer days, warmer temperatures and the prospect of being able to get outside among the blossom and newly opened flowers are always a tempting prospect for brides and grooms. So, as the seasons change, here’s some inspiration for your spring wedding…

Firstly, let’s look at colours and happily, the world is your oyster in terms of palettes for a spring wedding. Soft pastels or brighter tones (including coral, one of the wedding world’s current favourites) all look delightful at this time of year so pick the tones that suit you best and prepare yourself for something pretty.

Spring-5For an ethereal spring look, opt for a wedding dress of a soft design that’s made from a delicate fabric such as lace and tulle. Bridesmaids should take a look at Jenny Yoo’s latest collection that uses metres and metres of silk tulle – the short printed tulle skirts look amazing with a sweet cardigan or sweater because, let’s not forget that some spring days can still be a little chilly.

Spring-1Spring flowers are simply gorgeous and your florist should be able to suggest the best seasonal blooms for your wedding. Peonies, ranunculus, hydrangeas, lisianthus and roses are perfect for weddings as they’re suitably robust despite their delicate looks. Loose, natural, almost rambling arrangements and bouquets bring a big dose of natural beauty to your wedding and, if an April shower stops you getting outside, these unstructured designs bring the outside in.

Spring-2Whilst we’re talking about bringing the outside in, how about taking a little bit of inspiration from the garden? Potted herbs as place markers or seating cards look brilliant and seed wedding favours are also absolutely in keeping with this theme. For a little extra hit of herb, why not tuck a sprig of your favourite herb into napkins or attach a piece to each place card?

Spring-3Again, take nature as your inspiration when it comes to your cake. As we mentioned previously, watercolour is a big trend for 2016 so you could opt for a beautifully painted wedding cake. Using the flowers from your bouquet as the basis for the design is a wonderful, and completely spring-like, idea. Alternatively, a stacked cake, cleverly iced to resemble a silver birch trunk, and decorated with more fresh flowers is both rustic and romantic.

Spring is a fabulous time for fantastic flavours so make sure that your wedding feast includes lots of seasonal produce and tasty treats for your guests to enjoy. Early soft fruits make the most delicious desserts and spring vegetables such as asparagus, Jersey Royal potatoes and baby heritage carrots bring colour and flavour to your table. Slow cooked spring lamb would make a hearty meal, freshened with a touch of mint.

Spring-4As Shakespeare said ‘sweet lovers do love the spring’ and I’m sure you’ll agree that it really is one of the best seasons for a wedding.
